Late last year I decided I would attempt another sizeable solo kayaking expedition and have spent the last couple of months planning a journey from Land’s End to John o’ Groats which will utilise the following route:
Land’s End | North Cornwall Coast | North Devon Coast | Bristol Channel | Gloucester & Sharpness Canal | River Severn | Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal | Shropshire Union Canal | Liverpool | Cumbrian Coast | Barrow in Furness| Solway Firth | Mull of Galloway | Ailsa Craig | Arran | Crinan Canal | Oban | Fort William | Caledonian Canal | Inverness | NE Scottish Coast | John o’ Groats
I have negotiated six weeks off work in the summer to undertake this trip – not really that long considering the distance, but I will be giving it my best shot! I am posting all my planning documentation on to my kayak trip 2010 web page that I have created specifically for the trip. I will also try and raise some money for charity – I’m still trying to decide on a worthwhile cause! I plan to set off from Sennen on the 26th of June 2010.
