Scouting out the Sharpness Canal and Gloucester Quay

Gloucester TowerOn Sunday I headed out on the first train to the historic city of Gloucester, famous for its Cathedral.  The main purpose of the visit was to check out the Gloucester – Sharpness Canal in preparation for my kayak trip later in the year. On arrival at the station I walked briskly across town, stopping only for a cheeky hot dog for breakfast. After walking around the quayside and checking out the traditional boatbuilders yard I took a 5Km walk along the canal towpath before heading back in to town where I got some Sunday lunch and did some work on planning my kayak trip. I headed back to Swindon in the evening. Back to work tomorrow – with a cold snap on its way!
