Day 10: Woolacombe to Lynmouth

Awaking early with excitement I made my way down to the surf shed from where I dragged the kayak down to the beach and then across around 400 metres of beach to the sea.

I made a successful exit to the ocean on my first attempt – passed the break just as three consecutive large waves arrived so was quite lucky. Adrenaline began to flow as I turned my mind towards the point in front of me. I paddled all the way out to the green marker buoy of Morte Point and then North thereby avoiding the worst of the rough water. The powerful tidal stream catapulted me past Bull Point and along past Ilfracombe and the formidable Foreland point where I encountered a number of overfalls. Three hours later I arrived into the beautiful harbour of Lynmouth, just as the sea began to get a little choppy.
