Day 25: Glasson to Haverigg

Awaking at 5am I showered and packed up before heading down to the kayak. I paddled down the final stretch of the Glasson Canal down to Glasson basin beofre putting the boat back into the estuary. Thick fog was the order of the day as I made my way down through the Estuary and out into Morbombe Bay. On reaching the marked shipping lane I paused to allow two large ships pass by before continuing on across the bay towards Barrow in Furness. The currents were rather strong and I was careful to make sure that I ended up landing on the edge of Walney Island. Reaching the outer island I paused briefly before continuing around the outside of Walney Island. I saw many birds and several inquisitive seals. Passing over several complex sandbars I arrived at Haverigg and set up camp in pouring rain next to a wind farm. In the evening I walked into the village where I had fish and chips. Rain continued most of the night and I was more than a little wet.
