Day 26: Haverigg to Ravenglass

ExplosionsPacking up in very wet conditions I continued along the coast. The wind picked up and the sea soon turned into a confused messy state. On reaching the naval test firing range I looked out for a red flag before continuing onwards. I did not spot one so continued on along the coast. After half an hour or so I was joined by the range control boat – Unfortunately I had missed the red flag and had therefore entered a live firing range. The guy was very good about it and just said that they were waiting for me to pass through before starting. To get out of the way as quickly as possible I decided to stop off in Ravenglass. On arrival into Ravenglass I set about trying to dry off some of my clothes before heading down to the pub to enjoy a Chicken Tika Masla and a beer. The blasts from the naval range continued for the rest of the day – I was lucky not to have been blown out of the water. I camped out across the estuary adjacent to the nature reserve after a beautiful and rather eventful day.
