Day 5: Boscastle to Hartland Quay to Clovelly

BoscastleAwoke at 4am and did my best to quietly sneak out of the Youth Hostel Dormitory. Packed everything into the kayak and then proceeded to haul the kayak across the harbour (which was dry) before setting course for Bude. Arrived outside of Bude in about two hours before continuing along the magnificent coastline towards Hartland Quay. Arrived at high tide, so had around six hours to wait before the tidal race of hartland point would be running in the right direction again. Pulled the kayak up the boatramp before heading up to the hotel for a feed. Explored the beach as the tide went out and rested – experiencing some pain from paddling action. I set off again at 15:45 as the race changed direction, quickly passing Hartland Point lighthouse. Continued around the beautiful coastline in perfect conditions, arriving into Clovelly at around 17:00. Headed to the Pub for yet another meal and a beer. It looks like I will be spending an extra day here in beautiful Clovelly due to strong winds forecast tomorrow.
