Day 27: Ravenglass to St Bees

St BeesWaking at first light I packed up quickly and put the kayak on to the trolley. I then hauled the kayak approximately 3Km across the sand flats before putting into the water along the coast from Sellafield. Sellafield looked spectacular from the sea with the sun rising behing and the sea like a mirror. The northerly wind soon picked up as I continued along the coast, so much so that I was in danger of being blown out to sea. I continued along to St Bees where I stopped for a look around and some breakfast. This included a walk along the coastal path towards the lighthouse – absolutely spectacular. Back in the kayak I paddled around the Southern head to a small beach where I set up camp under the beautiful cliffs before examining the remains of a wreck and checking out the noisy seabird colonies. In the evening I cooked up a meal and lit up a fire. A truly beautiful day!
