Spit and Sawdust

The Royal OakThis weekend I headed back down to Dorset for a visit to my family.  On Saturday I headed out along the coast in the direction of Weymouth for a visit. The weather was good enough to spend a couple of hours lying on the beach – there were lots of boats out in the bay. As the clouds rolled in I headed for a pub and got a pint in The Royal Oak which I selected for the sawdust on the floor which gave it a very nostalgic feel; The smell of sawdust also works well with the taste of beer. I must at some point count up all of the pubs that I have visited this year – the original aim was to visit 365 but I’m way off that at present. I continued my wander around the harbour side before returning to Charmouth and walking up across the fields and back to Fishpond. On Sunday it felt like it was blowing a gale for some time in the morning (you could see the large waves breaking down at Charmouth) before calming down considerably in the afternoon. I headed back to Swindon in the evening.
