On Thursday I headed down to London to the 2010 Business Health Awards which were held at the Emirates Stadium. The Great Western Hospital had been nominated in the IT Innovation Award for the Pharmacy robots. After meeting up with my boss at Paddington we headed to the Emirates Stadium where we enjoyed a champagne reception, meal and awards ceremony that was presented by BBC Autocue reader Bill Turnball. We won out category which was quite a surprise – we certainly are not the first trust to implement an automated dispensing system. However, we were lucky to learn from other’s experiences and the technology has now matured enough to be both efficient and reliable. Despite the surprise, I am sure it is a welcome morale boost for the department. After the ceremony we headed to Covent Garden in search of a geocache before returning to Swindon in the evening.
