London Boat Show 2015 – Oru Kayak

Yesterday I headed over to the ExCel centre to attend the 2015 London Boat Show. Due to high winds the cablecar was not operating so I made use of the Overground and Docklands Light Railway rather than the more scenic option.
Once inside and £20 lighter in the pocket I headed over to the Nestaway Boats stand to look at the Oru Folding Kayak. This fantastic piece of design uses Origami to allow the kayak to be assembled from a lightweight plastic box and it’s contents – the box is part of the kayak. The boat is very quick to assemble and also very lightweight – it appears to overcome the limitations that I find with my wooden framed – Hypalon skinned folding kayak which is more difficult to transport, assemble and dry out to use for day trips.  After a 30 minute demonstration and close inspection of the boat, I placed an order before inspecting the rest of the show.
