Bristol is one of my favourite English cites with a rich and sometimes controversial history. The harbour side is a rich mix of new and old and is a great place to enjoy a beer on a hot summers day. Although the city was partly destroyed during the second world war many historic buildings and features remain including the spectacular cathedral. There are several well preserved ruins of churches that were lost during the blitz.

• Clifton Gorge and Suspension Bridge (Free)
• The Leaning tower in the Templar Church (Free)
• Bristol Cathedral
• Brandon Hill Nature Area and Cabot Tower (Free)
• Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery (Free)
• Bristol Balloon Fiesta (Free, Annually in August)
