A Short Pub Crawl in Bristol

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

Jonathan with a PintAfter a long sleep on Friday night trying to catch up on lost sleep I headed over to Bristol on Saturday to meet up with my sister Rebekah and her Fiance Tim. We first headed down to the waterfront where we lunched at a floating bar “The Grain Barge” which is owned by The Bristol Beer Factory. We then walked up the hill to Clifton for a pint in the White Lion before heading back down the hill and in to town for a few more drinks at Bristols oldest pub. My 2010 attempt to drink 365 different drinks at 365 different pubs was off to a flying start! I headed back to Swindon on the train in the Evening.
A good start to 2010!

Bristol Balloon Fiesta and The Red Arrows

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

The Red Arrows On Saturday I headed off to Bristol for the day to attend the annual balloon fiesta in Bristol. Unfortunately I missed the early morning mass launch as there was not an early enough train. I arrived at Ashton Court where I looked around the site. The Armed Forces were obviously on a bit of a recruitment drive with numerous recruitment vans attending from all three services. In the afternoon I went back across the Clifton Suspension bridge where I met my sister and Tim. Over some food and a  beer we watched the spectacular red arrows before waiting patiently for the evening mass releas of the balloons which began 45 minutes late. Definately worth the wait – the ballons are a great spectacle.
