A trip to Dorset

This week we headed down to Dorset on the South Western Railway for a long weekend visiting family. The weather was awful (heavy rain and gales) but we still had a lovely time.

Paxton Tunnel Portal South (Crystal Palace)

Today we went in search of the Paxton tunnel that served the now defunct Crystal Palace (High Level) Railway Station. We found the tunnel after a walk through Dulwich Upper Wood.

Lloyd Park and Addington Hills

Today we returned to Addington Hills lookout for a day of tree camping, reading and picnicking. It was particularly enjoyable reading “The Gruffalo” from our treetop house. We then headed down the hill to visit the play area in Lloyd Park.

This weekend we drove down to West Dorset to visit family.

A visit to the Natural History Museum

Today Elias and I went to the Natural History Museum in south Kensington. Despite being very busy (due to the combination of the weather and the summer holidays) we had a wonderful time, especially with the life-sized working model of the T-Rex. The model whale and dinosaur skeletons were also a big hit.

Electric Unicycling Tricks – 10-Pass Piggy-in-the-Middle Penny Spin Boomerangs

This week’s video is of some ten pass piggy-in-the-middle penny spin boomerangs. I added them to the edit at double speed as they can be a little boring to watch at normal speed! If I could work out how to cut out the precession then this would be an amazing trick. Part of the problem is that the car-park is not completely flat, and the wheel is not centrally balanced. I have also included some better footage of normal piggy-in-the-middle penny spin boomerangs from Crystal Palace Park.

Parliament Hill on Hampstead Heath

Following on from a meeting at The Royal Free Hospital, I spent my lunch hour wheeling up Parliament Hill to enjoy the view over London. The conditions were not great for photography (I didn’t even have my camera) but was still well worth the visit!

Spinning Practice @ Crystal Palace Park

This morning I headed down to one of my favourite spots in Crystal Palace park to practice with my electric unicycle. Unfortunately it was too slippery for cone practice so I ended up doing an hour and half of spinning practice.

Sewing practice – tote bag 2

Below is a photograph of a second tote bag I made this morning for practice, rather than head outside into the cold and snow. This one was made out of striped fabric with a plain white cotton lining.

El-wire back pack

Over the last couple of days I have modified my Lowe Alpine Airzone backpack so that it can glow with the aid of  a piece of Tron coloured El-wire. The el-wire is attached to the pack by means of small rings which I have sewn onto the back pack. I went for a symmetrical pattern which traces both sides of the path of the zip. The el-wire can easily be removed if required. The driver and battery is stored in the top pocket of the bag.
