Mackerel Fishing @ Lyme Regis

Today we headed down to Lyme Regis for a Mackerel Fishing trip. The trip from the Cobb out onto the placid sea lasted an hour and was very enjoyable, even if only one fish was landed!

RAF 100 Centenary Flypast

I was lucky enough to watch the RAF 100 centenary flypast from the bank of the River Thames whilst walking between sites today. It was amazing to see so many different types of aircraft and some impressive formation flying.

An unusual Rainbow

This evening (approx 18:30) we saw this unusual rainbow – a short rainbow directly above us. The rainbow occurred within a busy airline flight path. It wasn’t raining at the time.

Highlights included a trek to the Cova des Coloms – a large cavern about 24 meters high and 100 meters deep which was reached by a lovely (although poorly signposted) trail inland from Playa Binigaus.

A visit to Cambridge

This weekend I made a quick visit to Cambridge to attend a friend’s 40th birthday party. On my way back to the railway station I walked across Parkers Piece and past “Reality Checkpoint” which brought back many fond memories of growing up in Cambridge.

A visit to Kelsey Park

Today we took the tram down to Beckenham to visit Kelsey Park. This is a lovely public park with several interlinked lakes and a really good play area. The lakes are home to several types of ducks and geese as well as Swans and Herons.
