This weekend I made a quick visit to Cambridge to attend a friend’s 40th birthday party. On my way back to the railway station I walked across Parkers Piece and past “Reality Checkpoint” which brought back many fond memories of growing up in Cambridge.
Today we headed out to Chislehurst Caves for Elias’s first visit to a cave system. Elias loved the tunnels.
Today we took the tram down to Beckenham to visit Kelsey Park. This is a lovely public park with several interlinked lakes and a really good play area. The lakes are home to several types of ducks and geese as well as Swans and Herons.

This week we have had a week of snowy weather – very unusual for London.
Today we visited Caterham on the Hill where we ate at the Fleetingbrook Pub.
Today we headed down to Bromley South to see a beautiful steam train visit the station. It’s really something to see steam trains operating on mainline railways in London, especially during the working week. The formation did have a diesel tagged on the back just in case the steam engine broke down. We found out about the itenary from the UK Steam info website. Elias loved the steam and the noise of the train as it pulled away from the station.
