A classic recipe for flapjacks.


  • 100g Demerara sugar
  • 150g butter or cooking margarine
  • 3 teaspoons of golden syrup
  • Pinch of salt
  • 200g oats


  • Prepare oven  175C / Gas Mark 5.
  • Combine together the first 4 ingredients over low heat before adding in 200g oats. Mix well.
  • Tip into a greased baking tray Approx 20cm square and press down firmly with metal spoon
  • Cook at 175C for 20-25 mins/ Gas 5
  • Cut into squares when cool
